A surface-conduction electron-emitter display (SED) TV developed jointly by Toshiba Corporation and Canon Inc. will be appearing in storefronts this autumn, joining LCD and plasma display (PDP) TVs. Meanwhile, Toshiba is teaming up with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. in LCD TVs, and it is becoming a complex competition between mixed groups. Japanese manufacturers are under the pressure of foreign manufacturers, such as those from Korea, in the flat screen TV market.
