The Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan (IRCJ) was established for the purpose of providing industrial revitalization assistance through private-sector functions. Struggling supermarket chain Daiei, Inc. sought IRCJ's assistance on October 14. A public call for sponsors will begin early next year. Possible candidates for sponsorship is said to include, in addition to Japanese companies, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. of the U.S.
