At the November 1 announcement of Toyota Motor Corporation's financial results for the frist half-year ending September, Hiroshi Okuda, Chairman, said that its global sales target for 2006 is 8.5 million vehicles and also revealed that there are plans to construct a new plant in North America. Although details have not yet been made known, it is surmised that an engine plant, to be constructed in the South such as in Alabama, is most likely.
