Japan's business journal Weekly Economist published a ranking on life insurance firms' credibility in its Dec. 20 issue. Out of 23 companies surveyed, Sony Life Insurance topped the list, followed by American Family Life Assurance Co. of Columbus (Aflac), Prudential Life Insurance, ING Life Insurance and AXA Life Insurance. Foreign-affiliated companies enjoy a high reputation. Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance, involved in the scandal over the nonpayment of insurance claims, ranked fifteenth.
