Goodbye, Minolta

1, 20. 2006

Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. announced on Jan. 19 that it will pull out of camera and film businesses. The photographic equipment maker, created through a merger of Konica Corp. and Minolta Co. in Aug. 2003, will sell its digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera business to Sony Corp. Minolta has been recognized as a long-established camera maker, developing the world's first autofocus SLR camera. After the withdrawal, the brand name of Minolta will vanish away. The moves comes just after Nikon Corp., distinguished camera manufacturer, announced to cease its compact-type film camera production.
