Prosecutors arrested current and former high-ranking officials of Japan Defense Facilities Administration Agency (DFAA) on Jan. 30, on suspicion of handling bid-rigging schemes over air-conditioning systems projects ordered by the agency.
The suspects include the technical councilor, the agency’s third-ranking post. The Tokyo District Public Prosecutor’s Office regards the case as a bureaucrat-led crime, believing that DFAA officials and the air-conditioning equipment manufacturers stayed in close contact in the alleged bid-rigging.
