Troubled JAL’s President to Resign in June

3, 01. 2006

Japan Airlines Corp. President Toshiyuki Shinmachi is to resign in June. Senior Vice President Haruka Nishimatsu will take over his post. The decision was made after executives of the JAL group urged Shinmachi to step down. The number of JAL’s passengers decreased amid a series of operation troubles, leading to the airliner’s financial difficulties. Shinmachi previously said he would keep himself in his position.
