Fuji Heavy to Produce Toyota’s Camry

Toyota Motor Corp. and Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. unveiled the details of their business tie-up on Mar. 13. Fuji Heavy’s U.S. plant will begin to annually produce 100,000 units of Toyota’s Camry sedan flagship model as early as spring 2007. Fuji Heavy will also consider developing its own hybrid vehicles using Toyota’s technology.

Both car manufactures have been developing a concrete plan for their alliance, since Toyota became Fuji Heavy’s top shareholder in Oct. 2005. General Motors Corp. sold its stake in Fuji Heavy to Toyota at that time.
