Mazda’s Rotary Hydrogen Vehicle Debuts as World’s First

Mazda Motor Co. announced on Mar. 23 to put its hydrogen rotary engine vehicle RX-8 Hydrogen RE into practical use. The automaker leased the new car to its 2 energy-related corporate customers. The deal marks the world’s first case of selling hydrogen rotary engine vehicle.

Hydrogen rotary engine can use both hydrogen and gasoline as fuel. It does emit carbon dioxide (CO2), and emission of nitrogen oxide (NOx) is much less than gasoline engine.
