Toyota Motor Corp. is planning to introduce its hybrid system to all models, Nihon Keizai Shimbun said on Apr. 1. Such models as Crown luxury sedan and Vitz subcompact are also included. According to the paper, the automaker will quadruple its hybrid vehicle production to one million by 2012.
Toyota attempts to establish its supremacy in hybrid vehicles, by narrowing the gap in prices between hybrid and gasoline-driven cars. Toyota’s PR section told JINBN that the company seeks to produce one million hybrid vehicles, 10% of all new vehicle production, by early 2010s. However, the automaker declined to comment on what models to be introduced.
