Toyota Motor Corp. announced on Jun. 7 that the cumulative sales of its hybrid car Prius reached about 504,700 units. 195,100 units were sold domestically and the rest of 309,600 units went to users outside Japan.
Prius, the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, came to the market in 1997. Its sales are rapidly increasing after it made its debut in overseas market including North America and Europe in 2000.
