Taxi Company Raises Fares because of Rising Oil Prices

Assist Co., low-fare taxi operator in Tokyo, said it will raise its minimum fare for 2 kilometers from 500 yen to 640 yen in mid-October. The company says the price rise is mainly attributed to the soaring oil prices. It already submitted an application to the government agency for changing prices, and the application is expected to be approved as early as October.
