Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare released a statistics on the population in Japan. According to the announcement on Sep. 21, the number of live births for July 2006 increased to 96,048, up by 3,032 from a year ago. The number increased for the 6 months straight. This record was made for the first time in 12 years. 645,303 babies were born from Jan to July of 2006, an increase of 14,650 compared to the same period of 2005.
