   The number of convenience stores operated by 7-Eleven, Inc. in 17 countries and regions across the world had reached 32,208 as of the end of March 2005. This made the company the world's largest operator of retail-store and restaurant chains in terms of the number of stores operated under its franchise, Seven-Eleven Japan Co. announced on July 11, 2007. As of the end of June 2007, the number had risen further to 32,711. Previously, McDonald's had been the largest.
