World's smallest biped robot 「Omnibot17μi-SOBOT」
Tomy Co. plans to start selling the biped robot " Omnibot17μi-SOBOT" from Oct. 25, 2007.
By developing a super mini electric motor, the company succeeded in producing the robot which is as small as 16.5 centimeters in height. It was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's smallest mass-produced human-shaped robot.
The main body of the robot is equipped with 17 motors, as well as gyro sensor. It is said to be capable of various types of movements as it has good sense of balance. It has four control modes, including the specially designed "remote control mode" and the voice-controlled "voice control mode". It is also equipped with a speaker. It can play pre-recorded 180 different words, 90 different kinds of sound and five pieces of music. The suggested price is 31,290 yen with taxes.
