Nintendo terminates accepting repairing orders for Famicon

11, 08. 2007

Nintendo Co. stopped repairing service for Family Computer, the home game consoles popularly known as Famicon, and Super Famicon as of Oct. 31, 2007. The company said it was receiving only several orders for such repair works per month recently and that it was becoming difficult to obtain necessary parts for repair. The Wii, the game machine the company started selling in 2006, is capable of downloading the games played on Famicon, and this is one of the reasons for terminating the repair service, according to the company. The Famicon and Super Famicon game consoles are disappearing after they created sensations in the world of computer games in the 80's and 90's and a total of 110 million units of them had been sold.
