The users of Winny and other file-sharing software almost tripled over a period of one year, according to a survey announced by the Association of Copyright for Computer Software in late December 2007. Of the people subjected to the survey, 9.6% replied that they were making use of file-sharing software. The corresponding percentage was 3.5% when a similar survey was conducted in June 2006. The users of such software thus increased at the rate of about three folds in one year. The latest survey was taken in September 2007 by sending questionnaires on the web. About 20,000 people responded.
