The shipments of personal computers in Japan totalled 12,990,000 units in 2007, down 2.1% from the previous year, according to a survey conducted by the research company MM Research Institute (based in Minato-ku, Tokyo). It was a decline in such shipments for the second consecutive year. The shipments in value also dipped 0.6% to 1,540 billion yen. The decline was believed to be due to stagnant shift to the Microsoft OS Vista for computers for shipments to business firms.
