Orders for new Crown cars brisk at 24,000 units in a month

Toyota received orders for a total of about 24,000 units of its new Crown cars over a period of one month to March 17 after the cars were first put on the market on Feb. 18, 2008, the company announced on March 19, 2008. The orders are more than four times the sales target set at 5,500 units per month.
The cars ordered included about 12,000 units of the Royal series, about 9,600 units of Athlete series and about 2,400 units of hybrid cars to be sold starting in May. The company said the safety devices featuring 10 airbags and the options of advanced technology equipment, such as the Toyota premium sound system were highly praised.
