New “mobile-net” bank to be called “Jibun Bank”

The "mobile-net" bank to accommodate clients over the internet through mobile phones, to be established jointly by the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and KDDI Corp., will be named "Jibun Bank," it was disclosed on April 11. Preparations are being made to open the new bank in July 2008 at earliest after obtaining the approval from the Financial Services Agency.
Besides yen- and foreign currency-based deposits and trust investments, the "mobile-net" services include the handling of card loans and provide also the functions to make remittance to the accounts of anyone on the address book of a mobile phone and to settle payments for internet shopping or charge on the plastic money by taking full advantage of the mobile phone capability.
