Display panel easy to see even under the direct sunlight
Toshiba Corp. will start selling a seven-model series of the "Dynabook SS RX2" laptops fitted with 12.1-inch liquid crystal display panels from Sept. 20, 2008.
The lightest of the models weighs 858 grams, making it the world's lightest laptop of the type. It is made easy to carry with the thickness of 25.5 millimeters at the thickest part. Solid-state drives (SSDs) which consume less electricity than hard-disc drives and have high durability are used for some of the models.
All the models have the Intel "Core 2 Duo SU9300" CPU and have 2GB memory. Their backlit liquid crystal display panels make it easy to see even under the direct sunlight.
The prices are expected to be around 420,000 yen for the models fitted with 128-GB SSD and wide area wireless communication capability (wireless WAN) and about 230,000 yen for those with 160-GB HDD.
