Sony's netbook with rounded-corner design pleasant to look at
Sony Corp. will introduce its first netbooks in a "VAIO W Series" beginning on Aug. 8, 2009. They will have 10.1-type LCD panel.
Special care is taken for the design. The body is designed with rounded-corners. The top and bottom have the same coating. The touchpad has the same design as the inbuilt wallpapers. For basic performances, it has the "Atom N280," the Intel CPU designed for netbooks. It has a 160GB hard disc drive and 1GB memory. Its attached battery last for 3.5 hours after a full charging.
It comes in the white and pink colors with the pink one to be sold from Aug. 22. The retail price is expected to be around 60,000 yen each.
The company introduced pocket-sized small PC "VAIO type P" in January 2009, but because of its performance and functions it was not classified as a netbook.
