Watch to be used as still camera
8, 07. 2009
At a closer look, you can see a pinhole camera installed on what seems to be a regular watch.
Thanko, an Akihabara-based distributor of computer peripheral equipment, started selling a new model of watches with camera function on July 22 2009.
A pinhole camera is installed on the dial between one and two o'clock of the wristwatch. It enables users to shoot both VGA 640 x 480 pixel movies and up to 2 mega pixel still images. While the previous version only had the video filming capability, this latest model has added the photo shooting feature.
USB connection allows users to transfer all digital videos and images from the watch to the PC and serves as battery charger. The chronograph is only a design and not functional.
Leather and metal bands are available. The price of the camera is 9,980 yen.
