World Economic Forum, a nonprofit organization based in Switzerland, released Global Gender Gap Report 2009 on October 27. Japan placed 75th among 134 countries. While Japan rose from 98th last year, it is still the last spot among 7 major countries, compared to the U.S.A in 31st and China in 60th.
The report index assesses countries in 4 categories; economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, health and survival, and political environment. Iceland is ranked the top in the report. Finland is following the second and Norway is the third.
