Vancouver Olympics: Mao Asada Takes Silver in Women's Figure Skating
2, 26. 2010
Japanese figure skater Mao Asada could not reach her rival, Yu-Na Kim of South Korea at the free program of women's figure skating in Vancouver Olympics. Kim won the gold medal, while Asada took silver, and Canada's Joannie Rochette received bronze medal.
Asada became the first female skater who succeeded triple-axels three times as a total in the Olympic game. But it was not enough for her as Kim made the highest score ever, 228.56, while Asada marked 205.50.
Miki Ando, who had ended a disappointing fifteenth at Torino Olympics in 2006, performed well at this time, placed fifth, and Akiko Suzuki was in eighth.
